Have gone to this restaurant since it opened as a take out only restaraunt in Lehi! This family works so hard! Always the same chef and head waitress (a husband wife team). I've loved watching all their kids grow up in the business! I love the lemon splash on their chips and that they are always fresh and warm! I love the Debbie's Chimi that combines the yumminess of and a lil kick! The Carnitas are flipping amazing! The flavor is PERFECTION! FRESH corn chowder is available in season and delish! I can't talk enough about the fried ice cream. ...mmmmm! Their signature drinks are so good as well! This is a great restaurant bring a big family for an a social occasion, which we do many times a year! I love that I don't feel rushed when I go to Cocolitos! It's a great place to meet and catch up with old friends! Can you tell we LOVE this place? ! You will too!

My husband and I were in the area and decided to give Cocolito's a try. We walked in and were greeted by a very friendly woman who sat us at a booth. The facility was very clean and simple and we took a look at their menu. It was small which is a nice change from your normal Mexican restaurant which can have way too many options. Taking a peek at the drink menu, they serve Pepsi products and only virgin drinks. I ordered myself a virgin piña colada not expecting much. But it was surprisingly tasty and had real coconut pieces blended in which was delicious. The chips were from a bag and were terrible. The salsa was also in the same rank of Pace Picante. Meh. Not good. My quesadilla was good as was the black refried beans but the rice was awful tasting like Uncle Ben's microwave rice. Taco Bell quality food for a much higher price. I could have ordered roughly 20 tacos from Taco Bell which would have left me satisfied and smiling. Unlike Culo-Litos. Not visiting ever again.

I would give them four, but the service was slow and chip and salsa was bland. We asked for spicy salsa, which was really good. The main dishes were really tasty but again they brought out half the food at a time.

Decent meal. Over priced for what it is. Service was a bit below par. The place was empty so that should have been the first warning. I'm always glad to support the local company but I prolly won't be back here.

Not too impressed with this restaurant. The menu prices seem to be a little inflated. The food was certainly nothing to write home about.

The service was horrible and the food was not that great either. It tasted like chicken from a can and smothered in cream cheese. I would rather go else where.

Okay, I live in Lehi, have eaten at most of the Mexican restaurants in the area, and have an idea what good Mexican food is. I heard that Cocolito's in Pleasant Grove was decent, so, it seemed that a Saturday afternoon just before the dinner rush was a good time to give it a try. What a disaster! There were only two customers in the place and a very young girl came to wait on us. She didn't know the menu and had to keep asking someone else to answer any questions about the food. I wanted a side of corn chowder only to be told they were out, yet, there was nothing mentioned on the menu regarding it being a seasonal thing. At this point, I would have been happy if they had popped a can of store bought corn chowder open for me. I also ordered a lemonade with the meal and later asked for a refill. I was told they don't refill the lemonade and I would have to pay for another drink. I can't remember what they charged me, but it was too much. The complimentary chips and salsa tasted stale and the salsa reminded me of a cheap brand you buy in a big plastic jug in the grocery store. The entree was bland, almost tasteless and the beans that replaced the corn chowder were inedible. It reminded me of beans at the bottom of the pan that stayed on the heat too long and then mashed up. Totally disgusting. Our waitress never bothered to refill water glasses and never bothered to ask if we wanted more chips and salsa. I didn't ask either as it was possible she would charge me for a refill. Besides, who wants to eat inferior crap. It will be a cold day in Hades before I step into that place again. It was almost as if they didn't care if I had a decent dining experience and couldn't wait for us to leave. This really ticks me off as I do shower and use adequate deodorant. This being said, I've let my friends and family know that I'll never waste my money in Cocolito's in Pleasant Grove again, and I sincerely mean it.

We love the Carne Asada Platter! Scott knows how to cook the steak perfectly! Love that I can make my own using their yummy flour of corn tortillas. I always choose flour. Best chips (they add lime juice people!). Salsa is good.

I'd give them a one, however, the waitress was very kind and prompt. The reason I'd rate this a one is based on the food. I ordered a very simple, two taco meal. The rice it came with appears to be on the same level or below boxed rice. The worst part were the tacos; chicken and pork. The tortilla was raw/not soft, the meat was dry, and the toppings did not match. I'd compare this food to Taco Bell or something disgusting. I would personally not recommend eating here.

While I was waiting for our food to come I read some of the other reviews on Yelp and I had to agree with the positive ones. I really enjoyed the food and the wait to be sat, to get chips and salsa, to order, and to get our food were average and comparable to any other sit down place. My only complaint is about the price. I spent $13 on a carne asada platter and my wife's burrito was like $12. This felt overpriced for what it was and makes me not want to go back. The menus still have the address printed on the front from their former (or other) location in North Orem. I hope that when it comes time to reprint the menus they will consider prices that are more in line with their food.

Reviewing Cocolito's is going to be difficult because I want to be fair but honest.. My family and I love the food--it's some of the best Mexican in the area. I really like their their beans! However, the service is horrible. We have been here a number of times since they opened in Pleasant Grove, as well as at their old Orem location. Since opening in Pleasant Grove there have been some serious problems with service and it seems to be getting worse; tonight we waited for 45 minutes for our food. We finally had to ask the waitress--who was excellent, by the way--what had happened to our order. After about 5 minutes she came back and apologized for a mix-up in the kitchen. On other words, they lost our order! I'd hate to see this restaurant close because of service issues, because I can't say enough about the excellent food. They always have a "help wanted" sign in the window; obviously help is hard to find. I hope they can get their act together. I'd love to give them 5 stars; unfortunately, because of the poor service I can only give 3 stars.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
